Skinner House, a 1934 Art Deco estate by legendary architect duo John and Coulton Skinner, is on the market for the first time since the art deco masterpiece has been masterfully restored and modernized. The home was already permitted for demolition before before Michael Raynes, a developer whose company, R Investors, restores architecturally significant homes in Miami Beach, stepped in to save the residence and restore the home to its original splendor.

“The buyer of this residence will be living in one of the most unique environments – a completely modernized, updated home with every technological amenity and advancement imaginable,” said Batchelor. “An estate of this architectural caliber -- one that so beautifully blends original designer details with modern comforts and conveniences -- is an opportunity that cannot be overlooked.”

“Not a single detail has been overlooked in the painstaking restoration of this estate,” added Batchelor. “This residence is a masterpiece – one that’s sure to be the pinnacle acquisition of a lifestyle connoisseur's collection.”

Located near the entrance of La Gorce Island and facing Poinciana Park, the two-story Skinner House features four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms spread throughout 4,860 SF. The home offers a grand entrance with soaring French doors and a 24' ceiling. Finishes include hand-blocked wall coverings imported from France, a state-of-the-art modern kitchen with Calcutta gold marble slab countertops, and a cantilevered open-shell form staircase in the living room. The dining room features an adjoining butler’s pantry with a wine cooler and is accessed through a pair of grand, black ebonized doors with PE Guerin doorknobs. All of the bedrooms in the home have custom walk-in closets, while all baths have custom built-in vanities with honed marble plinth-style counters.

Adding to the Skinner House's unmistakable draw are its hand-selected furnishings, a number of which can be purchased in a separate agreement. The pieces, works of art in and of themselves, were chosen by the residence’s design team, collectors of important 20th century designs. Many were purchased at auction through top dealers worldwide, including a rare pair of Jean Michel Frank beds from the famed Born estate in Argentina; Fontana Arte sconces from Max Ingrand; a Jansen mirror; Jacques Adnet leather arm chairs and an oak bar; an Alessandro Albrizzi periwinkle blue desk; lounge chairs designed by Edward Wormley for Dunbar; and rare Stilnovo standing lamps. Also available for purchase are the home’s newly-made custom beds, sofas and lounge chairs, all upholstered in the finest fabrics that echo the design and personality of the dwelling.

Skinner House sits on a 12,300 SF double lot with lush courtyard and a Parisian-style garden dotted with exotic specimens and hexagonal fountain, as well as a stone drive, all conceived by award-winning landscape architect Fernando Wong. Out back is a private backyard with a natural-gas-heated pool and patio area, outdoor dining spaces, and an outdoor shower.

6332 Alton Rd, Miami Beach is currently listed for $5,600,000 with Nancy Batchelor of EWM Realty International.
